It was the first event of AIChE Ahmedabad University student chapter on 29thAugust
2018. We had welcomed Dr. Jaimin Vasa who is President of Gujarat Chamber of
commerce and industry and Dr. Unnat Pandit who is head of operation Atal Innovation
Mission. Both of our chief guest’s gave an insight about the future of chemical
engineers and the developing field. It was followed by our Dean Dr Sunil Kale who
was so glad to have these two legends on our campus.
The main goal towards this event was to spread awareness against all the AIChE
awards, special events, SAChE Certificates and etc. This meeting was an eye opener
for many members as they had no clue on what all AIChE has to offer and what all
they can do to improve their CV and resume. But our main topics for the discussion
in this were ChemECar competition and RSC, there were 5-6 people who went to RSC
held in VIT Pune the following year and they all were sharing their feelings.
We want our students to do some exercise and play sports so that it can help them to
maintain their body and reduce the stress from studies. Sports can teach them
teamwork and leadership quality, which enhance them during their academy period. So
we started with the most prominent game among the student i.e. Cricket tournament.
It was a great game among the students. We had also invited alumina students to join
with us. At the end of the game, the boys from third year had played well in all the
three formats of the i.e. on field, batting and bowling and they were the
front-runners in interbatch cricket tournament.
Energy of the students was at the utmost level as it was the first industrial visit
of AIChE Ahmedabad University. We have shown the outline of the Narayan industry so
that students understand in a better way and solve their doubts during the
industrial visit. The reason why we have set this industrial visit was that students
had performed few experiments on dye during their academy year and we want to show
them on a large scale. We want our students to know the importance, classification
and uses of dye. On the day of the industrial visit it was great to see massive
response from the students. Students had taken major initiative to learn about
industry and process. Industrial visit had completed smoothly and students had
learned a lot from this visit.
It was the second biggest success for the chapter as there was great enthusiasm among
the student for the “AIChE weekend”. We have planned industrial visit on Saturday.
On Sunday, there was interbatch cricket tournament. This time we want our students
to know about water treatment plant and how to reduce the TDS of the acidic water,
which is release from the industry. First of all we had attended a small seminar
regarding uses and conservation of water at Paryavaran Mandir. Further we went to
NEPL effluent plant were we had seen how to minimize the TDS of water and from where
the this water had been supplied from the different industry.
The farewell ceremony was arranged in honour of the outgoing fourth year students of
chemical engineering. The students of first and second years had shown enthusiasm in
arranging the farewell for their seniors. The thing is that “we have got the best
senior who can give best advice to us at every movement of our life”. So it was our
responsibility to give our best effort to make the farewell more memorable. We had
planned for dinner and some games for them to make their night more shining. They
had shared their best memories, which they have done in their college life. We had
captured some beautiful memories with them, which we would never forget in our life.
AIChE Chem-E-Jeopardy. Jeopardy! is an American television game show created by Merv
Griffin. The show features a quiz competition in which contestants are presented
with general knowledge clues in the form of answers, and must phrase their responses
in the form of questions. Similarly, Chem-E-Jeopardy is a competition which involves
clues regarding Chemical engineering subjects and the contestants are expected to
frame questions. Team should have maximum 4 members and minimum 2.
AIChE Ahmedabad University Student Chapter has organised an interactive session with
Chemical Engineering Faculty and students to announce and give a brief view About
the Upcoming southern asian Regional Student Conference 2021 which is going to be
hosted by Ahmedabad University Student Chapter.
We all have played Charades and Dumb Charades when were we young, but did you guys
ever think of what could happen when you mix Chemistry. We have planned an event
where you could play Dumb Charades and Charades with Chemistry. The rules of
Charades and Dumb Charades remain the same instead of Movies or TV Shows we will be
giving names of Chemicals, Apparatus, Chemical Engineering equipments used in
Factories. We ask you all to form teams of 3, so you will be able to enjoy the most.
You can even fill the form up for single registration and we will make sure that you
get a team.
We all know that Diwali is one of the most auspicious festivals celebrated in India.
The preparations for diwali start even before the holiday's start. So we should also
have a Pre Diwali Celebration too. We at AIChE Ahmedabad University believe in
celebrating important events with the peers. So we have planned a whole evening for
you all to enjoy the spirit of Diwali and enjoy the night to the fullest.
We organised a Chem-E-Wood Technical and Fun Event for our fellow students.
Chem-E-Wood is similar to the BOLLYWOOD game we all must have played once in our
childhood. In the BOLLYWOOD game, the participant has to guess a Bollywood movie
which is presented in the form of missing letters. The amount of guesses are equal
to the number of letters present in the word Bollywood. If the participant makes the
correct guess within the provided number of guesses, he/she gets a point. Similarly,
in the Chem-E-Wood game, the words related to Chemistry or Chemical Engineering were
presented in the form of missing letters and the participants have to guess the
right word. The amount of guesses should be equal to the number of letters in the
word Chem-E-Wood. The winners were Students of 3rd year Chemical Engineering Rohan
Faldu and Pratik Raja.
We all have played crosswords in our young years some people still play it now, they
are always fun and interesting. So, we present our next event Crossical. Crossical
is basically a crossword game but with a twist of chemistry and chemical
engineering. Where instead of certain words you would be guessing the
chemicals, various equipment, processes etc. So turn up in good numbers and show us
what you got.

Co-Awareness
In these difficult times, let’s fight together and come out of this battle as more
compassionate, self-aware, and stronger than ever. In an effort to channel all of
your quarantine frustration into positive energy, the AIChE Ahmedabad University
Student Chapter, and the Ahmedabad University Students' Magazine, Pehchaan, have
collaborated to curate an exciting event for you guys.
The task is to create a poster, as well as a write-up, spreading awareness about the
importance of social distancing. The aim is to spread the word and to express our
gratitude to all the doctors and nurses, the policemen, and all other healthcare and
essential workers who are working selflessly, every single day. Participants with a
scientific background can try relating this with their technical knowledge, as well.
